John and Lorraine Normington are the first residents to move intoThe Manor in Gilberdyke.

The Normington family have recently become the first family to move into Peter Ward Homes’ exclusive new development, The Manor in Gilberdyke. This marks the first milestone for The Manor, which has had a remarkable amount of interest from many buyers, keen to get a taste of a Peter Ward home.

John and Lorraine Normington were amongst the first buyers lucky enough to find their perfect family home. After seeing the old Captains Close development in Goole, completed in 2012, the family were impressed with the quality and precision of the build. They then went on to enquire about this current development in Gilberdyke. After viewing many of the house types available at The Manor, they fell in love with three bed, semi-detached home, called The Woking.

Mrs Normington said, “When we first saw The Woking we knew it was for us. We love how much space there is – especially in the Kitchen and Utility Room. Not to mention the perfect location. Words can’t describe it. It’s just fantastic. We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally be in our brand new home. It was definitely worth the wait and it was great value for money.”

The Woking is just one of 7 house types available at The Manor. With a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, there is something for everyone.

One person who has seen just how happy the family are, is Peter Ward Homes’ Sales Representative, Sarah Shepherd. Sarah has guided the Normington family through the process of purchasing their home, to make it as easy and unnerving for them as possible.

She said, “ It’s great to see John and Lorraine have settled in well and are enjoying their new home. It just goes to show how the right home can make a real difference to your life. People search and search for their perfect home and think they will never find it. Fortunately, this family have and we are delighted they have found it with us. It has been a pleasure to get to know them and we would like to wish them the best of luck in their new home.”

Mrs Normington also took this opportunity to say a few words.

“On behalf of my husband and son, we would like to thank Sarah for all the help she has given us in the past year. She has been fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

Smiles all around at The Eastrington Show…

Sales representative and lucky winner, Chris Stringfellow, helped out at The Eastrington Show.

For many years now the Eastrington Show has been a major attraction in Yorkshire and the North East of England. The show attracts many people from all over the country who come especially to enjoy the days festivities.

This year the show reached out to a number of local businesses in hope of gaining sponsors and exhibitors to contribute towards the annual event. One of the exhibitors that was more than happy to help was local house builder, Peter Ward Homes.

When approached by the Eastrington Show, Peter Ward Homes were one of the sponsors keen to get involved. As an avid supporter of local events, there was no surprise the house builder was quick to jump at the opportunity to help out and be of service on the day.

Every year a number of fun-filled shows and activities are put on to entertain people of all ages and gender. The days schedual included horse, sheep, cattle and terrier shows as well as a number of competitions.

Peter Ward Homes, Sales Representative Chris Stringfellow was present on the day and ran a stall along side a small team. The stall was set up so that throughout the day, visitors could come and speak to the Sales Representatives with any enquiries or help they may need on taking the first steps to find their new home. A number of brochures and leaflets where on hand to give visitors a better look on what a Peter Ward home offers. The stall attracted many people throughout the day who were on the look out for a new family home.

Determined to join in on the fun action of the Eastrington show, Sales Representative Chris, had a memorable moment of her own. As a keen baker, she took up the opportunity to enter the cake competition which resulted in her winning The Kathleen Wraith Memorial Trophy for the ‘fatless sponge’. This is not the first win for Chris as she also won this trophy back in 2009.

Chris shared her thoughts on the day.

“It was great that Peter Ward Homes were able to share the excitement of the day. The Eastrington Show is a great event attracting lots of families who wouldn’t necessarily  expect to see a house builder there. That’s why events like this are great as people can enjoy them selves as well as get information and guidance on matters such as purchasing or finding a new home.”

And the winner is…

Lucky winner, Jayne Rudd receives her iPad Air!

Lucky winner, Jayne Rudd receives her iPad Air!

The winner of the iPad Air draw, at the Peter Ward Homes Open Weekend, was this week presented with her prize by Sales Representative, Sarah Shepherd.

Jayne Rudd, 47, from Brough, was the lucky winner of the prize draw after attending the Open Weekend at The Manor in Gilberdyke with her Mum.

She said, “I’d heard about the Open Weekend through Rightmove. I was browsing the Peter Ward Homes website and phoned up to enquire. They then invited me to attend the Open Weekend. When I was there I was asked if I wanted to enter the prize draw so I thought why not. I never expected to win.”

Ms Rudd attended the Open Weekend in the hope of finding a three-bed, detached home. She took a particular liking to one house type that had everything she was looking for.

“I’m wanting to downsize from my four-bed detached to a three-bed. I have two sons who are ready to fly the nest so I no longer need the extra room. I really liked the look of The Wansford. I loved the layout of the house. We spend a lot of time in the Kitchen and Dining room so to have so much space in that area is perfect. Also the bi-folding doors featured in the show home were amazing. It was just lovely.”

The Open Weekend at The Manor in Gilberdyke and Habrough Fields in Immingham proved to be very successful with double the amount of visitors compared to previous events. One of the main talking points was the stunning new show home at The Manor. The four-bed, detached home, The Hertford caught the eye of many, who proclaimed they ‘loved the layout and design’.

Sales Representative, Sarah Shepherd explained the reasoning behind the Open Weekend: “ The Open Weekends are just one way we make it easier for buyers to get as much help and support as possible when looking for a new home.

It’s not until you speak to the team on-site that you realise there are so many different ways to help you purchase what you’re looking for. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the turnout from this year’s event. It was our busiest yet. The iPad Air prize draw was just part of the excitement on the day and so we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jayne on being the lucky winner.”

Jayne said, “I’m absolutely elated to have won. I’ve never won anything. I’ve actually been looking at buying an iPad recently. I thought I might treat my self but luckily I didn’t. It couldn’t have come at a better time. Thank you Peter Ward Homes.”

A day in the life of a Peter Ward Homes Sales Representative…

The lovely Peter Ward Homes Sales Team.

A few of the hardworking Peter Ward Homes Sales Representatives.

At Peter Ward Homes, we are dedicated to giving you the best guidance and support as possible when it comes to finding and purchasing a new home. Our Sales Representatives are available 7 days a week from 11am – 5pm to help deal with any enquiries you may have. Sarah Shepherd is one of our longest working Sales Representatives at Peter Ward Homes and we caught up with her to chat about what life is like working at Peter Ward Homes.

How long have you worked for Peter Ward Homes?

I’ve been here since 1998 so it will be 17 years this May. It doesn’t feel that long though.

What made you want to be a Sales Representative?

I’ve always worked in this industry. I like meeting people. I’ve only actually been a Sales Representative for Peter Ward Homes because I like the quality of his build. Its important when your selling a property, whether it’s a 2 or a 5 bed, that the quality of the build is good. Buyers get that with a Peter Ward home.

What’s the best thing about working at Peter Ward Homes?

Working for Peter Ward Homes. They are a very good company and very good to their staff. They build a product that you can be very proud to sell. It’s what we believe. I wouldn’t have worked for them for all this time if they weren’t.

What is a typical day like for you?

It varies really. We open up the show house, check our emails, contact people that have interest in the development and want to be updated. We also show people around the development and explain all about Peter Ward Homes and the properties we have.  It’s all about the customer – satisfying their needs and finding the right property for them.

How has the job changed over the years?

It’s changed massively because the lenders are more stringent with the process and it’s understandably more difficult to get a mortgage now. But government-backed schemes such as Help to Buy have made a huge difference.

What do people look for the most when buying a home?

The quality and design of the build. If they didn’t like the quality they wouldn’t buy it. I spoke to a surveyor not long ago who said she had visited our Sandholme Park development, which started back in 2000. She said to me ‘that site still looks as good as it did 10 years ago’. So I think that just goes to show how good the quality of the houses are. And also more importantly they are great value for money.

What advice would you give to a new Sales Rep?

Always be polite and treat your customer the way you would like to be treated yourself.

Sarah is currently handling all enquires at The Manor in Gilberdyke which is open 7 days a week from 11am – 5pm. Site Sales Office: 01430 631100

5 Top Tips for First Time Buyers!

House and keys

Buying your first home is a huge decision and can seem a daunting prospect. At Peter Ward Homes, we have helped thousands of buyers take the first step onto the property ladder. To help First Time Buyers, we have come up with 5 top tips to help get you started on looking for your new home.

1.  Do your research!

As a First time buyers you need to know as much as you can about the market. Research the area where you are considering buying. What are the facilities like? What about transport links? Check on line or visit the area to get a real idea of what it might be like to live there.

2. Financial support

Calculate the likely ongoing costs of all things such as heating, lighting, stamp duty etc. before finalising the maximum price you will pay for your first home. Get as much advice as possible on how much you can borrow, what deposit you will need and how much to allow for all the costs. It is best to take this step before you start viewing to ensure you are looking at appropriately priced properties.

3.  Selection

Know what you are looking for – whether it’s a 2, 3 or 4 bed. Work out what kind of property you need. Who are you catering for? What area do you want to be in? Knowing what you want will make it easier when it comes to looking for your property.

4. Get family/friend advice

Speak to people who have already been through this process as they will be able to give you advice and guidance. They may point out issues that you may not have considered.

5. Visit a number of show homes

Make sure to have a good look round a number of potential properties and list the pros and cons of the ones you see. Don’t be swayed by the design of the kitchen etc. the position of the property is the first thing to focus on as it is the one thing that can’t be changed. Also consider the size and layout.

Welcome to the family…

Rachel Davies is the newest member of the Peter Ward Homes family.

Rachel Davies is the newest member of the Peter Ward Homes family.

We have recently welcomed a new friendly face here at Peter Ward Homes, to help guide and support buyers in the process of finding their new home. Rachel Davies, 26, has been appointed as the newest Sales Representative and will be initially based at the Habrough Fields development in Immingham. This role comes as an almighty change for former blue coat Rachel, who has previously spent the last few years professionally singing at weddings and functions across Europe including a spell in Germany where she toured the army camps.

Cleethorpes local, Rachel, began her roll in late December 2014 and has since been on a number of training days. In addition to her new role at Peter Ward Homes, Rachel is currently studying for a Psychology degree at the Grimsby College of higher education where she hopes to gain knowledge that will help her thrive in her new part time job. She continued, “I chose to do a Psychology degree as I know it plays a big role in Marketing. I would like to progress my career in sales and I think Peter Ward Homes will be a good platform to do so. I already love it here; it doesn’t feel like I’m at work. I still have a couple of training days to complete and I can’t wait.”

In her role of Sales Representative, Rachel will be on hand to help those who are looking to buy a new home at Habrough Fields in Immingham. Finding the perfect home can be a stressful and unnerving process, which is why we continuously look to make it as smooth as possible.

We are all thrilled to have Rachel join us here at Peter Ward Homes and look forward to seeing how she progresses in her new role. Good luck Rachel!

Winner of Christmas Photo Contest receives prize!

Christmas is the one time of the year where it is completely acceptable to decorate your house with trimmings, tinsel, fairy lights and endless amounts of chocolate. So when Peter Ward Homes announced it was running a competition for the most over the top and creative decorations, it was no surprise so many jumped at the chance to impress.

Mr and Mrs Donkin receive their Linx 7 abler from Peter Ward Homes' creative partners, Communique Advertising.

Mr and Mrs Donkin receive their Linx 7 tablet.

The Christmas photo competition was run through social media, to find the most creatively decorated home. It encouraged Peter Ward Home residents to upload their Christmassy themed home, tree and garden, in hope of winning a brand new Windows 8, Linx 7 tablet. The competition took off from the offset with multiple entries flooding in. From a bay window, to a fireplace, Christmas was beginning to spread for Peter Ward Home owners but it was Andrew Donkin who took the prize with his ‘amazing wall of light.’

Mr Donkin lives at the popular Peter Ward Homes development, Habrough Fields in Immingham with his wife. It was his idea to enter the competition in hope of winning a new tablet.

Andrew shared his thoughts on the win, “I can’t begin to describe how overjoyed we were to hear we had won the Peter Ward Homes Christmas competition. This is only our third Christmas at Habrough Fields and we have tried to improve our display every year, so it’s very flattering to win something like this, and something we are both immensely proud of.”

This is not the first time the award winning housebuilder has had success with an online contest as the iPad mini prize draw back in October proved to do equally as well. Peter Ward Homes have a rapid presence on social media and constantly look to interact with their homeowners in any way possible.

Andrew continued, “Winning has been a fantastic start to the Christmas season. A big thank you to all at Peter Ward Homes for this prize and also for the high quality finish of our Habrough Fields home.”
